When you speak to Ruema, it saves the text of what you said, a short title it generates, the category it assigns, and the date. Optionally, a photo or location if you add one.
All of this is stored on your device, in Apple's encrypted local database. We do not have a copy. We cannot read your memories.
Speech is transcribed on your iPhone using Apple's built-in speech recognition. Your audio recording is never uploaded to us and is never stored. Once the words are captured, the audio is gone.
This is the one time information leaves your device, and we want to be precise about it.
When you ask Ruema something, your iPhone first finds the small number of memories most likely to answer it. That matching happens entirely on your device. Only those few memories and your question are then sent to Anthropic's API, which generates the answer.
Your whole memory library is never transmitted. Your name, email, device identifier, and location are never transmitted. Anthropic does not use this data to train models. The exchange is used to answer your question and nothing else.
If you have no internet connection, Ruema falls back to searching your memories entirely on-device, and nothing leaves your phone at all.
You can delete any memory at any time. You can delete all of them at once. You can export everything you have ever told Ruema in a readable format.
Deleting the app removes every memory from your device permanently. Because we never had a copy, there is nothing left behind on our side to delete.
Ruema recognizes when you tell it something like a passcode or a password, and marks it as sensitive so it can be kept behind Face ID. Treat Ruema as you would a trusted notebook: helpful for the things you would otherwise forget, but not a replacement for a dedicated password manager or a bank vault.
Ruema is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
If this policy changes in a way that affects how your memories are handled, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. Not in a footnote.
